“Ooh, I never realised semis were so big.”
Yes, that’s my mother and John’s mother-in-law hamming it up for the cameras during her little trip to the states. And I’m sure she’s going to be terribly grateful for me posting this.
Anyway, considering I’ve now been over here for over a year, it was awfully nice to see her and watching her blowing John’s money on complete new wardrobes for his four lovely terrors. (News is, the only things they want to wear are the Davey Crocket hats Steph bought for them.) I think John may have got a bottle of buffalo wing sauce. He would’ve got a packet of lime chili rub – either as embrocation or a marinade – but it’s somehow found its way into one of our cupboards.
It’s been like a two-week marathon version of . I kid you not.
As for top quotes of the holiday:
1. “Ooh, what’s that store over there – Humpty Dumpty?” – asked whilst driving past Home Depot.
2. “At least my batteries should last a bit longer today. I’ve bought some of those – what do they call them – those longer lasting Lithuanian batteries.”
But it comes to something when I still need my mum to come over and help sort out furnishings for the flat (sorry, apartment), and iron my work shirts so the cut of my jib is straight as opposed to crinkled.
So, just a couple more days of rest and relaxation recuperating from the visit and we’ll be back to the usual humdrum.
