Chuck has been kind enough to send me this little Ebay auction item.
Stainless Steel Ford
It’s a 1931 Model A Ford made entirely from stainless steel.

First of all the car has been in the family for 50 years and is as 1931 2 door sedan. The car does not run and needs to be restored. The car is number 3 of 3 cars made. The first car made was melted for metal in 1942 and was used in the war effort. Ford motor company was trying to get people interested in having all the car made out of Stainless Steel. The reason is that the car would not rust, was easy to maintain and would not wear out. This car (3 of 3) was in Time magazine November 09, 1931. We do have this article. This car was made with the touring fender (left side only), sun visor, and the extended bumper for a trunk. Car #3 (this car) was the only one of the three that was privately owned. More information on the car can and will be given to the buyer. This information was given to me from the gentleman that was over the project of building the Stainless Steel cars (1936 Thunderbird and Continental). The gentleman also informed me that the 2 halves of car #2 was given to the Smithsonian Institute, but I have not been able to verify that.

He wants $100,000 for it and I wouldn’t have a clue if that was cheap, expensive, or right on the nose.

Although, if he’s going purely by today’s stainless steel scrap prices, he’s probably somewhere near.

I’d obviously put a bid in myself, but it seems that the Crawford Auto Museum in Cleveland already has a 1936 stainless steel Ford I can go and take a look at anytime I want.
