Steel Factory

I must confess to having a slight interest in industrial photography. I’ve always enjoyed rooting around disused mills and factories. It’s alright when you’re little – you just get told to be on your way if you’re caught. But, you’re either regarded as a criminal, or slightly worse, downright weird, if you’re caught in one at an older age. That’s why a camera is always handy.

The hebig blog is run by two German guys with a strong focus on industrial photography.

There’s a whole section in their photo portion of the site dedicated to the American coal and steel industries, circa 1966. Some great old adverts from a couple of places round Cleveland are in there too.

And here’s a dodgy one of mine of some disused mill in Burnley.
