Considering I keep seeing referrel keywords for people wanting to know about scrap steel prices, I just thought I’d throw some figures out there because I’m such a lovely chap.
In November of last year we were talking $250 a ton, but recently it’s dipped to just below $200. The average price for steel scrap was $120 per ton in 2003, $90 in 2002 and $75 in 2001.

l would like to know how much stainless steel is worth a pound i have about 250lbs of it and i want to know if its worth scraping
Mike, depends on where your at. Here in the midwest it ranges from 60-70 cents/lb. But farther North I have seen prices up to a buck a lb or even better
Can you tell me what the price is on copper. I have not striped the wiring but if the price is a big difference I can. I discovered a large pile of wiring that the previous owner of my home left. There is some aluminum and a lot of copper.

i have 2 stainless steel presure tanks they are only a few years old and they r complete with bolt on persure lids and stands and valves etc, that r in great condition ,still stamped ,they r 1/4 walled and they r 5000 gal each they have 2 weigh at least 10,000 lbs all stainless steel includeing the covers ,nuts ,valves etc . im in reno nv any idea of what i could get for them???
