Halle-bloody-lujah!

After more or less 3 1/2 months without broadband access, BT Wholesale seem to have finally resolved whatever problem it was they were having that was preventing me from getting a connection at home.

I’d already written a huge post damning BT and every single ISP I’d ever heard of until I rang them for a final time this morning. I was prepared to start swearing, getting in touch with Lynn Foulds-Wood or even taking out a contract or two on the the hapless halfwits that I’ve had the misfortune to chat to over the past weeks.

I’m way too happy to ask the question as to what the hell was the matter in the first place and perhaps I’ll get round to asking for some kind of explanation/compensation once I’m reconnected by the beginning of March.

Broadband is possibly my greatest timesaver, and since losing the ability to be part of the broadband revolution, the lack of it has been my greatest timewaster and source of frustration.

You really ought to try it sometime.

For those of you in a similar predicament, you can contact Ofcom here and they’ll slap BT and your ISP around on your behalf and give you a number to contact the higher echelons of customer service.

Ofcom have also recently finished an investigation about Alternate Dispute Resolution Schemes at various networks and this article directs you to the places where you can get stuff resolved.

I can assure that I’m also moving to a provider that costs that little bit more for an infinitely better service. This sort of thing is too important for me to be a cheapskate about it.

    I have had a very frustrating time with BTYahoo Broadband. They could not resolve my problem neither.

    I had to resort to a local computer business to sort it out for me.

    I have written a lengthly letter to BT with a number of questions and asked for a reply.

    I went to the Ofcom website, but did not find that much help.

    Let me know who your new ISP is/

    Send me an email and I will let you know what BT says.

    Thanks for that, John. I’ve signed up with http://www.idnet.net as I wanted a monthly contract considering I shouldn’t be in blighty for too much longer.

    It really shouldn’t be like this. Some of the ineptitude I’ve encountered has been beyond belief, as I’m sure you more than understand.
