Using This Site: RSS and Blogs Explained
Posted by Paul Woodhouse at March 24th, 2006
What exactly is a blog?
Well, what you’re reading, The Tinbasher, is a blog. Granted it’s a business blog, but essentially, a blog is a site with chronologically backwards articles (that means posts which are dated with the newest post first). It also has enough bells and whistles (things like comments, trackbacks, permalinks and RSS feeds) to allow the person blogging to say everything about anything to everyone.
There’s obviously plenty more you can do with a blog and you can get a far better overview of blogging from Wikipedia.
If you’re specifically interested in business blogging then you must read Business Blogging 101 over at CorporateBlogging.Info
What’s RSS then?

We’re seeing more and more of the orange icon above or those other little orange icons with RSS on them all over the web these days. Rather than clicking all over trying to find the content you want, you can now have the content you want delivered to you on your desktop.
If you’re interested in a very simple explanation of RSS you can head over to the BBC’s website. You can also see how they’ve utilised RSS.
If you fancy a bit more technical jargon and a history of RSS you can have a look at RSS (file format) Wikipedia.
Finally, if you’re interested in how to apply RSS as part of a marketing strategy, you can take a look at RSS nofear. (Make sure you look at the RSS Whitepaper and the RSS Powerpoint Presentation.)
So now I’m fully up to speed on all this RSS stuff, how do I sign up for The Tinbasher’s RSS Feed?
Other than clicking on Articles or Comments under Syndication in the sidebar, you can click on one of the following depending on what reader you use:

Great site. I’d like to see more blogs targeting manufacturing.
